What if I told you that the way you manage your energy and time is defined by a system designed by, and made for humans without wombs?

(This should not come as a complete surprise 🤷‍♀️).

And what if, in addition to all the other shit the patriarchy has shoveled our way, it’s also managed to convince us that unless we fit our bodies into a no-womb way of being, we’re hormonal and weak and irrational and…the list goes on.

Hmmm 🤔...

The truth is that women are cyclical beings with the power to create and give life (irrespective of whether we chose to, or not).

Having a monthly cycle is not an inconvenience. It's our super power.

We just don't know how to harness it.

So we continue living the way we’ve been taught — as though we should be wired like humans without wombs. And it isn't working for us.

I'd like to introduce a new way of doing life —a woman-centered, body-loving, nature-honoring way of managing your energy and time (essentially, of doing life 😉).

It's called Cyclical Living.

CYCLICAL LIVING: THE BASICS

Let's start with the basics by answering the question: what is Cyclical Living? Or better yet, what is The Cycle?

ABOUT "THE CYCLE"

Everything that is alive around us experiences The Cycle.

All of life begins with birth and ends with death.

The Cycle can be divided into 4 quarters which I’m going to refer to in this article as the 4 seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn or Fall.

Each of these 4 quarters, or phases carries a specific energy. And as such, the phases are synonymous with any cycle of creation and destruction, of birth and rebirth. And of life and death.

These phases can not only be observed in the Earth’s 4 seasons but also in the:

4 quarters of a 24 hour circadian cycle — night, morning, noon, afternoon and evening

4 phases of the moon — the dark and new moon, the waxing moon, the full moon, the waning moon

4 phases of a woman’s cycle — the bleeding phase, the follicular phase, the ovulatory phase, the luteal phase

4 phases of a woman’s life cycle — maiden, wise woman and crone.

Every day, lunar cycle, menstrual cycle (if you bleed) and every year we experience the opportunity to rebirth, reach fulfillment, release and die a little bit, and to go inward and rest.

In my free Guide to Cyclical Living you get the detailed scoop about the 4 energetic seasons and some simple ways to live more in alignment with them — click here to access that. But for now, here’s a quick summary.

THE CYCLE'S 4 ENERGETIC SEASONS

Winter Season

The Winter Season is synonymous with the dark moon, a woman’s bleeding phase and the darkest of night. It is when life goes deep underground and all above the surface is bare. However, nothing above ground is obvious, there’s invisible processing going on.

The energetics of this phase invite one to slow down, pause and rest. It is a time to hibernate, retreat and go inwards to reflect and access the wisdom of one’s intuition. For many, it is a great time to analyze, assess and process ideas or make decisions.

Spring Season

The Spring Season is synonymous with the morning, the waxing moon, a woman’s follicular phase and the experience a seed may have emerging from its bud as it begins to pack out from under the Earth.

This is a time of birth, when life awakens and outward growth is initiated. It is a time of inspiration, when identities, ideas and plans begin to take shape driven by youthful energy and vitality. The energetics of this phase invite one to initiate and follow their inspiration as they plan out their projects.

Summer Season

The Summer Season is synonymous with the full moon, ovulation and a flower reaching its petals to the sun in full bloom.

This is a time where our plans come to fruition and our projects climax. We connect with others to express ourselves and share our ripe produce, expanding ourselves for the world to see and celebrate.

Autumn Season

The Autumn Season is synonymous with the waning moon, the luteal phase, a flower’s falling petals and the day’s end (dusk). It is a time to tie up loose ends and declutter in order to to complete this cycle, and get clear on the lessons we must take into the dark Winter with us.

Our heightened sensitivity at this time helps us to consciously discern what to release and let go of — emotions and limiting beliefs included. I liken the energetics of this phase to that of a  squirrel gathering nuts for winter, or to the junk clearing out of junk in the basement to make space for a sacred meditation space.

The Cycle is ancient. She is also inherently wise in the way that she balances, contains and gives space to both creative and destructive forces, to both masculine (yang) and feminine (ying) energies and to the nuanced transitions in between.

CYCLICAL LIVING IS...simply being aware of these energetic seasons and aligning what we do with what a particular energetic phase is supporting us to do.

When we begin to tune into nature’s wisdom and align what we do with these energies, we give ourselves permission to experience all 4 seasons of a project or day or experience in a way that harnesses the supportive energies around us.

And in a world that encourages us to do-do-do and go-go-go, one of its most beautiful gifts is the permission it gives us to take pause, go inward and rest.  And in so doing, experience more balance in our lives.

Because until now, we’ve been encouraged to be in perpetual Spring and Summer.

And by that I mean, to value doing and producing all the time. Instead of honoring our Falls and Winters, we’ve pushed their call to slow down, go inward, listen and rest, tad another cup of coffee, and kept on doing or going or producing.

And like any field that’s been pushed to perpetually produce without rest, we too are running dry.

I attribute Cyclical Living with making my life (and my clients’ lives) feel more like a downstream canoe 🛶 ride, than the uphill struggle that it was.

You are not here by coincidence. You are here to accept my invitation to do the same.

Because whether or not you bleed, you have everything you need to harness nature’s ancient wisdom in your everyday life by adopting Her Cycle as a framework that will guide the way you manage your energy and time.
